Mary MacKillop Outreach (MMO) was established in 1992 as a “Special Work” of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sydney Archdiocesan Council. Special Works are established to address the specific needs of disadvantaged and marginalised persons.
MMO is a volunteer based, disability support service established to provide recreational, educational, social, living skills and prevocational training programs to people primarily living with a mental illness and/or disability residing in Licensed Residential Centres (boarding houses) and group homes within the Inner West of Sydney. MMO delivers these programs through centre activities, bus trips and community based activities.
MMO also has two Men’s Sheds attached to the service which provide manual arts activities for retired men, war veterans and persons with a disability or mental illness from the local area. Mary MacKillop Outreach Men’s Shed operates Monday to Wednesday and Ashfield Men’s Shed operates on Thursdays and Fridays.
MMO provides services that are inspired by the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society and are governed by the Disability Service Standards and requirements of associated Disability and Anti-discrimination legislation.
