Volunteers
Mary MacKillop Outreach (MMO) acknowledges the important role volunteers play in the running of our service. Volunteers and students are of enormous value, bringing a wide range of skills, experiences and interests that build on the service. They provide worthwhile and positive contributions whilst gaining life and work skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Volunteering at MMO has many benefits:
- Learn useful skills for a variety of work and life contexts
- Contribute to the wellbeing of clients
- Meet specific criteria for student placements
- Make new friends
- Supportive environment
There is never a dull moment as our clients have a wide range of interests and personalities. Many clients just love the opportunity to interact with someone. It is incredibly rewarding to see residents having fun and being given opportunities to do the simple things that the wider community takes for granted.
There are a range of opportunities for volunteers and students at MMO. These include:
- Introduction to organisational structure, policy and casework.
- Facilitating individual goal development with clients.
- Supervising centre programs (such as music, art, cooking etc).
- Visit the beautiful parks and beaches of Sydney
MMO is a friendly and flexible service. Ideas and feedback are appreciated to make the service as interesting and beneficial to the clients as possible. Volunteers must undergo a national criminal history record check to volunteer at MMO.
