Bus Trips

At Mary Mackillop Outreach we have daily bus trips where our clients travel in our commuter buses to interesting destinations. We visit National Parks, Public Parks, RSL clubs or beaches and on occassion special events such as the Easter show, circuses and public music performances.

Our bus trips are from 10am-2pm and we travel to all areas in Sydney. The bus trips consist of two staff and two volunteers and up to 17 clients. On the trips the clients and the staff eat lunch together, have cordial and tea or coffee and usually participate in ball games or walks around the park. We have also incorporated art into our bus trips, with an art kit kept on each of our buses.

MMO provides a sports bag for the buses, which includes balls, bats and other sports equiptment.

We incorporate our beauty and art programs on some of our bus trips.

On the last week of each month we have BBQ week where the clients decide on what they would like to have for lunch, and together, as a team we prepare and cook a BBQ lunch. MMO encourages healthy options for BBQ week.

Bus outing locations are decided in a bi-monthly forum where clients vote on destinations for the following two months. At MMO we encourage the clients to get involved in as much of the planning process as possible.
