Projects
Now in its eight year of operation the Men’s Shed at Lewisham, Sydney, is still continuing to provide projects for its 40 strong membership.
- Wheelchair Project: Over the last five years the wheelchair project has produced over 1,000 wheelchairs which were sent to third world countries including Dili, East Timor, and Cambodia. The wheelchairs are produced from old bikes and steel which are assembled by the members, packed in boxes in kit form and sent on to their destination. Any unused materials are recycled.
- Eora Garden: Ashfield Council commissioned the Men’s Shed to design, construct and paint a Community Shed with BBQ facilities in the Eora Garden, Summer Hill, three years ago which has been completed and is now being used by many groups in the area.
- As an ongoing project the Men’s Shed are now constructing five large planter boxes, two tables with inbuilt chess boards, bench seats and concrete pads for them to be mounted on.
- Cross Project: In 2007-08 the Men’s Shed in conjunction with Gosford Men’s Shed and local Parish groups produced 614,000 small wooden crosses for distribution with the Large Cross and Icon of Our Lady throughout Australia for World Youth Day.

The Men's Shed is also willing to help out with other community projects for our local area. If you would like to discuss any current or new projects with our Men's Shed staff please feel free to contact us.
